What is the function of the Urinary System? Removes waste, balances water & Salt, and controls blood pressure.
What is the role of ADH? ADH tells the Kidneys to keep water in the body.
What hormone increases sodium reabsorption in the kidneys? Aldosterone.
What does surfactant do in the lungs? Keeps air sacs from sticking together to breath easier.
What are the lobes of the right lung? Superior, middle and inferior.
What is the main function of the Respiratory System? To bring oxygen in and expel carbon dioxide.
What does the diaphragm do during inhalation? It contracts and pulls air into the lungs.
What do helper T cells do? Activate immune cells to fight off infection.
What is the job of the lymph nodes? They filter lymph and trap harmful substances.
What are the two main parts of the digestive system? The alimentary canal and the accessory organs.
What does bile do? It breaks down fats into smaller pieces.
What organ stores bile? The gallbladder.
What is action potential? A nerve signal caused by a change in electrical charge across the cell membrane.
What do neurotransmitters do? They carry signals across the synapse between neurons.
What are the two main parts of the nervous system? The Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS).
What does the autonomic nervous system (ANS) control? Involuntary actions like heart rate, digestion, and breathing.
What odes the retina do? It sees light and sends visual signals to the brain.
What does the thyroid hormone control? Metabolism: How the body uses energy.
What is the "Master Gland"? The Pituitary Gland
What is the path of blood through the heart? Right Atrium->Right Ventricle->Lungs->Left Atrium->Left Ventricle-> Body.
Where does gas exchange happen in the lungs? In the Alveoli.
What is the main function of the small intestines? To absorb nutrients from food.
What does the enzyme Amylase do? It breaks down Carbohydrates.
