| Delegation | Process by which managers transfer authority and responsibility downward. |
| Departmentalization | Grouping individuals into departments and departments into organizations. |
| Functional Departmentalization | Grouping by common skills and work tasks. |
| Divisional Departmentalization | Grouping by product, program, or geographical location. |
| Matrix Departmentalization | Combines functional and divisional approaches. |
| Team Departmentalization | Organized to accomplish specific tasks. |
| Network Departmentalization | Independent departments provide functions for a central core. |
