TermDefinition
DNA A molecule that carries the genetic instructions for all living organisms
Cell membrane A semi-permeable barrier that surrounds the cytoplasm of all cells
Fluid Mosaic A dynamic structure of lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates that are constantly moving and interacting
Skin The largest organ of the human body, acting as a protective barrier against the external environment
Skeletal structure A structural framework for the body, enabling movement, protecting vital organs, and storing essential minerals
Myosin A protein that forms the contractile filaments of muscle cells and is also involved in motion in other types of cells.
Actin A crucial protein found in all eukaryotic cells, playing a vital role in cell structure, movement, and division.
Homeostasis The process by which living organisms maintain a stable internal environment despite changes in external conditions
Impulse a rapid, temporary change in the electrical potential across a neuron's cell membrane that transmits information throughout the nervous system
sarcoplasmic reticulum an action potential, a rapid electrical signal that travels along the sarcolemma and into the T-tubules
