| Agonist | agent that works like or with (rather than against) another agent |
| Antagonist | agent that has an opposing effect or works against another agent |
| Diaphragm | the flat muscular sheet that separates the thorax and abdomen; a major muscle of respiration |
| Deltoid | triangular muscle that covers the shoulder joint, abducting the arm |
| Extrinsic Muscle | muscle originating from outside of the part or region being moved |
| Fascia | general name for the fibrous connective tissue masses located throughout the body |
| Intrinsic Muscle | muscle that is actually within the part moved |
| Muscle Tone | tonic contraction; characteristic of muscle of a normal individual who is awake |
| Perineum | area between anus and genitals |
| Tonicity | behavior of a solution in regard to whether a cell gains or loses water from the solution |
