Microsoft Excel Term

TermDefinition
Chart A visual representation of data.
Data Series A set of related data points plotted in a chart.
Category Axis The horizontal (x) axis, typically representing categories.
Value Axis The vertical (y) axis, typically representing numerical values.
Chart Title The main heading of the chart.
Legend An identifier for the data series in a chart.
Data Label A value or name that provides information about a data point.
Gridlines Horizontal or vertical lines that extend from the axes across the plot area.
Plot Area The area within the chart axes where the data series are plotted.
Chart Area The entire chart and all its elements.
Chart Type The specific design of a chart (e.g., column, line, pie).
Column Chart Uses vertical bars to display and compare values.
Bar Chart Uses horizontal bars to display and compare values.
Line Chart Displays trends over time or categories.
Pie Chart Shows the proportion of parts to a whole.
Scatter Plot Shows the relationship between two sets of numerical data.
Axis Titles Labels for the category and value axes.
Trendline A line representing the general trend of the data.
Data Table A grid that displays the data used in the chart.
Chart Layout A preset arrangement of chart elements.
