Acronym A shortened form of a word or expression typically formed from the first letter of each word
Copyright The legal right of someone, usually the author or artist, to use or reproduce a work
Cross-Cultural Communication Occurs when people from different cultures share messages verbally, nonverbally, or in writing
Culture A set of beliefs, attitudes, practices, and social customs that distinguishes a group of people
Customs Beliefs, traditions, and practices of a group of people
Discrimination Unfair treatment of a person or group on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, or national origin
Diversity The presence of a wide range of variation in qualities or attributes of people or things
Ethics Principles of right and wrong that govern behavior
Ethnicity The division of people into groups that share a common ancestry, history, or culture
Etiquette A set of rules of behavior for a particular place or situation
Fair Use Allows limited use of copyrighted material without the author’s permission
Globalization The integration of activities among nations in areas such as commerce
Identity Theft Stealing and illegally using a person’s private data
Idioms Expressions that cannot be understood from simply reading the words
Inclusion Seeing and valuing the contributions of everyone and treating everyone fairly
Jargon A technical language used in a particular kind of work
Mentor A person that guides your development by modeling positive behaviors in workforce
Morals A person’s values concerning what is right or wrong
Multinational Company A company that conducts business in at least two nations
Personal Space The nearby area around a person or the are the person considers his or her territory
Plagiarism The act of claiming someone else’s words or ideas as your own
Prejudice A bias that prevents objective thought about a person or thing
Race The division of people into groups based on physical characteristic such as skin or hair color
Slang- A word or expression that is not considered standard language
Stereotype An oversimplified belief about a group of people
Trade Secret Information that gives a business a competitive advantage and makes reasonable efforts to keep secret
Whistleblower A person who reports employees who operate outside the law or hide information that shows illegal activity
