| Term | Definition |

| Binary | Number system in base 2 that computers use to represent data and instructions |
| Denary | The numbers 1-10 (Our numbers) |
| ASCII | A relatively simple character set that can represent 128 different characters |
| Pixel | The smallest element of a bitmap image, normally arranged in a two-dimensional grid |
| Resolution | Word used to describe the detail of a digital image |
| Conversion | Changing from binary to denary or vice-versa |
| Data Representation | How data is stored and understood by the computer |
| Logic | The use of Boolean calculations to determine a particular output as true or false |
| NOT gate | The logical operator to reverse an input |
| AND gate | The logical operator to require 2 true inputs for a true output |
| OR gate | The logical operator to require either input to be true for a true output |
| Truth Table | A table to show all the inputs and possible outputs of a logic gate or circuir |
| File size | A downside of storing better quality images/audio is that this attribute will be larger |
| Metadata | Information about the image data that allows a computer to recreate the image from binary |
| Data | Raw, unorganised numbers and facts |
| Information | Data with context. |
| Bit | The logical operator to reverse an input |
| Byte | The logical operator to require 2 true inputs for a true output |
| Kilobyte | Binary unit consisting of 1,024 bytes |
| Megabyte | Binary unit consisting of 1,024 kilobytes |
| Gigagbyte | Binary unit consisting of 1,024 megabytes |
