| Cell | One single box in the spreadsheet |
| Cell reference | A unique ID for each cell using LetterNumber e.g. A1 |
| Column | Group of cells running vertically on the spreadsheet |
| Row | Group of cells running horizontally on the spreadsheet |
| Formatting | Changing the appearance of a document |
| Borders | Adding lines around the edges to make things more organised |
| Fill colour | To change the colour of a cell |
| Bar chart | chart that is used to summarize and compare categorical data |
| Pie Chart | circular chart that is divided up into sections showing percentages |
| Data | Raw data without any meaning or context to explain it |
| Information | Data with added context |
| Formula | calculate a result and display it in the active cell. |
| Function | built-in formulas to simplify more complex formulas |
| Cell Range | group of cells in a spreadsheet that have been selected |
| =AVERAGE | Function to work out the average of a selection of cells |
| =SUM | Function to work out the total addition of a selection of cells |
| =MAX | Function to work out the highest of a selection of cells |
| =MIN | Function to work out the lowest of a selection of cells |
| =COUNTA | Function to count all cells with anything in them |
| Primary Source | When data has been collected for the first time |
| Secondary Source | When someone else has already collected the information |
| Sorting | Arranging information into a certain order e.g. alphabetical |
| Filtering | To remove some information to focus on something specific |
