TermDefinition
Depolarization Movement of the mebrane potential toward zero
Hyperpolarization Movement of the mebrane potential away from zero (thus below the usual RMP)
Epidural space Outside the dura mater but inside the boney covering of the spinal cord; "on the dura"
Subdural space Between the dura mater and arachonid mater; "under the dura"
Subarachnoid space Under the arachnoid and outside pia mater; this space contains significant amount of CSF
Proprioceptors Less numerous and generall more specialized than other internally placed receptors and their locations is limited to skeletal muscle, joint capsules, and tendons; provides infromation about body movement, orientation in spacem and muscle stretch
Pericardium A multilayer sac that covers the heart; consists of two main parts: fibers portion and a serous portion.
Epicardium Covering layer or visceral layer of ther serious pericardium
Lymphoid tissue A type of reticulat tissue that contains lympocytes and other defensive cells
Pulmonary ventilation Another term for breathing
Ingestion Process of taking food into the mouth, starting it on its journey through the digestive tract
