Input V. Output? Input: Puts information INTO the computer Output: Gets information OUT OF the computer
What does the motherboard do? Everything inside the laptop is plugged into it
What does CPU stand for? Central Processing Unit
What does the CPU do? The brains of the computer. Controls what it does
What does RAM stand for? Random Access Memory
What does the RAM do? The RAM is short term memory. Once you shut off the computer, it erases.
What does ROM stand for? Read Only Memory
What does ROM do? Tells the computer how to start up
What does the hard drive do? Long term memory. Everything is stored here
What does the heat sink do? Absorbs and pulls heat away from the CPU
What does the cooling fan do? Pulls cool air from the outside into the case to prevent overheating
What are ports? A fancy way of saying plugs. Used to connect USB drives, keyboards, mouses, headphones, printers, speakers, etc.
What is the CPU speed measured in? (Name 2) Megahertz / Clock Rates
RAM V. ROM? RAM stores memory and is volatile(Deletes when turned off) ROM stores instructions and is permanent
Name a few types of cords HDMI, USB, power cord, VGA, 3.5 jack
What are some computer amenities? (Name 2) Keyboard / Mouse
What are employability skills? Skills that allow you to work well with others, usually learned in life
What is dependability? Things that allow others to depend on you. Being on time and showing up for work are examples
What is effective communication? Speaking and writing: Clearly, properly, and respectfully
What are work ethics? Routines and things that help you guide your behavior and decisions at work
What is adaptability? How flexible you are at work(NOT literally), and being considerate
What is trust? Working scheduled hours, not wasting time, telling the truth, and NEVER lie, cheat, or steal
Fairness Compromise, respect other's opinions, and don't play favorites
Responsibility? Take pride in your work, don't make excuses, and ALWAYS complete work on time or before the due date
Respect No back talk! Talk and treat others with courtesy. Treat other's how you want to be treated. Remember, respect is earned
