ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) Main energy source that cells use for most of their work
Myosin A protein present in muscle fibers that aids in contraction and makes up the majority of muscle fiber
Actin A protein that helps cells move, maintain their shape, and contract muscles
ADP (Adenosine Diphosphate) A lower energy molecule that can converted into ATP by the addition of a phosphate group
Flat bones Broad, plate-like bones that protect internal organs and provide large surfaces for muscle attachment
Irregular bones A type of bone that do not fit into any other category of bone, such as long, short, or flat bones
Short bones Small, cube-shaped bones that are found in areas where stability and support are needed
Long bones Hard, dense bones that are longer than they are wide and provide structure, strength, and mobility
Osteoblasts Bone forming cells
Osteoclasts Bone destroying cells
Cartilage A flexible connective tissue that cushions joints and protects bones
Ligament A fibrous connective tissue that connects bone to bone
Tendon A fibrous connective tissue that connects muscle to bone
Joint A connection between two or more bones that allows for movement
