TermDefinition
Homeostasis the tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.
Feedback Loops process where the output of a system is fed back into the system as input.
Nucleic Acids a complex organic substance present in living cells, especially DNA or RNA, whose molecules consist of many nucleotides linked in a long chain.
Biomolecules a molecule that is produced in a living organism.
Metabolism the chemical process that occur within a living organism in order to maintain life.
Protein Synthesis the biological process by which cells create proteins
Epithelial Membrane a tissue structured composed of a layer of epithelial cells attached to a layer of underlying connective tissue, essentially forming a lining that covers body surfaces or lines internal cavities withing the body.
Connective Tissue Membrane a sheet of connective tissue that covers organs or lines movable joints.
Intramembranous Ossification the process of bone formation from fibrous connective tissue.
Hyoid Bone U-shaped bones situated at the root of the tongue in the front of the neck and between the lower jaw and the largest cartilage of the larynx, or voice box.
Skeletal System a framework of bones, cartilage, joints and ligaments that provides support and protection to the body.
Synovial Joints type of joint that allows free movement between two or more bones.
Myofilaments thread-like protein filaments that make up muscle fibers.
