Drama Terms
Many different terms in drama literature.
| Term | Definition |

| Drama | A genre of literature that is meant to be preformed. |
| Playwright | The author of a play |
| Script | The printed version of a play |
| Act | A single major unit of action in a play, featuring it's own climax |
| Scene | A subdivision of a play that is limited to just one time and place |
| Dialogue | A conversation between multiple characters in a play |
| Stage Directions | Information that describes how a play is meant to be preformed that is not meant to be said aloud |
| Exposition | Information that provides the background information on characters, settings, and the plot |
| Prop | Any object used on stage |
| Monologue | A lengthy speech given by just one character |
| Soliloquy | A long speech expressing a character's thoughts who is alone on stage where all action stops |
| Aside | A short speech expressing a character's thoughts who may not be alone on state and where all action may not stop |
| Tragedy | A play that ends in a catastrophe for the main character |
| Comedy | A play where the main character triumphs over a challenge and is marked by a happy ending |
