TermDefinition
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) A nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time. There is no cure for this fatal disease.
hospice Care that focuses on the care, comfort and quality of life of a person with a serious illness who is near the end of life and have stopped treatment to cure or control their disease. The care can take place in the person's own home or a facility.
euthanasia The practice of intentionally ending life to eliminate pain and suffering from an incurable and painful disease or an irreversible coma. Also known as mercy killing, assisted suicide, physician-assisted suicide
syllabus A summary or outline of what will be covered in an academic course.
curriculum The lessons and topics for a specific academic course.
atheist A person who doesn't believe in a god (deity).
agnostic A person who doesn't believe that it is possible to KNOW for sure that a god exists.
sociology The study of the development, structure, and functioning of human society.
aphorism A short or memorable expression of a general truth or principle.
