| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What should be checked on aircraft tires? | Tread, shallow cracks in sidewall, visible deterioration. |
| What do you do if a fuel sump shows a contaminent? | Drain until clear in all sumps, then gently rock wings and bring tail to the ground. Check all sumps again |
| How do you start an engine in warm weather within 20 minutes of shut off? How about after 20 minutes? | within 20 minutes follow normal warm start procedure. After 30 minutes advance the mixture control promptly to 1/3 open when the engine starts, and then smoothly to full rich as power develops. |
| What to do if the engine does not start due to lack of fuel? | set the FUEL PUMP switch to the ON position temporarily and adjust the throttle and/or mixture as necessary to keep the engine running |
| What do you do in the case of a flooded engine? | set the FUEL PUMP switch to OFF, open throttle from 1/2 to full open, and cont cranking with mixture in the IDLE position. When the engine fires, smoothly advance the mixture control to full rich and retard the throttle to desired idle speed. |
| What to do if the engine doesn't show pressure within 1 minute? | stop engine and inform front desk. |
| Describe how you would affect controls when taxing in different types of wind. | Left head: turn into wind and neutral elevator. Right head: Same as above Left tail: turn AWAY from wind and push in yoke Right tail: Same as above |
| During a run up, what is the single mag max for a drop , and what is the max mag differential? | 150 RPM and 50 RPM respectfully. |
| How do you recover from a spin? | Power idle. from neutral aleron and rudder, then give full rudder opposite spin direction at a brisk but not immediate pace. Then push yoke in at pull rudder deflection. Once rotation stops rudder to neutral and normal recovery from stall. |
| Describe the go around procedure. | Flaps to 20, climb at 60 KIAS, reduce flaps as you see positive airspeed and positive climb (only after clearing any possible obstacles) |
| Describe cold weather engine start (20F or lower) | preheat engine and use external power. Manually spin propeller opposite normal operations a few times. Standby battery may be less then 24 volts. Prior to takeoff verify positive charge and amp less then 0.4 |
| Memory items - Engine Failure during takeoff | Throttle to idle and apply brakes |
| Memory items - Engine failure after takeoff | 70 KIAS (65 KIAS short field) |
| Memory items - Engine failure during flight | Best Glide, fuel shutoff on (pushed in), fuel selector both, fuel pump on, mixture rich |
| Memory items - Engine Fire (ground) | Mag start (if starts then done) If noit then throttle full, mixture idle, mag to start position, fuel shutoff off (pulled), fuel pump off, mags to off, stnby batt off, master off |
| Memory items - Engine Fire (in flight) | Mixture idle, fuel shutoff off (pulled), pump off, master off |
| Memory items - Electrical Fire (in flight) | stndby off, master off, cabin vents closed, cabin heat and air off, fire extinguisher |
| Memory items - Cabin Fire | stndby off, master off, cabin vents closed, cabin heat and air off, fire extinguisher |
| Memory items - Wing Fire | land and taxi light off, nav light off, stobe light off, pitot heat off |
| Memory items - in flight icing | Pitot heat on, attempt to leave icing area (alt or direction), Cabin heat on, defroster control outlets open, cabin air adjust to max |
| Memory items - Static Source Blocked | Alt static air valve on |
| Memory items - Autopilot or electric trim failure | Grab control wheel firmly, press and hold disconnect, adjust trim manually as needed, pull auto pilot breaker. |
| Memory items - CO2 advisory | cabin heat off, cabin air open, cabin vents open |
| who do you land without elevator controll? | trim to mainstain 65 KIAS and flaps to 20 degrees. control decent and glide by power settings. during landing flare adjust trim to full nose up. |
