| ADJACENT RANGE | A singe rectangular block that includes a group of connected cells |
| Argument | Specifics the numbers, text, or cell references used in a function to perform a calucation |
| Arithemetic Operator | A symbol such as -+* or / which is used in a formula to perform arithmetic calucations. |
| Auto Complete | A feature that makes it easier to enter repetitive text. As you enter text in a worksheet, you will see text displayed that begins with the same letters from a previous entry in the same column |
| AutoFill | A featuare to copy the contents of selected cells by dragging the fill handle over adjacent cells rather than using copy and paste |
| Auto Fit | matches the width of the column to that of the longest cell entry or hightest row |
| Auto Sum | to quickly add a column or row of values in Excel. This icon also selects from common functions: sum, count, average, min, or max |
| Chart | Graph that provides a visual representatives of workbook data |
| Comaprison operator | Symbol used to indicate the realtionship btw two values (<,><=) |
| Excel Table | A range of data you can treat as a distinct object in a worksheet |
| Fill handle | a small black square in the lower-right corner of a selected cell (or cellr ange) that you drag to copy the contents of the selected cells into adjacent cells |
| filter | used to search for and display only specific items, based on selection criteria |
| Find | Command to locate specific letters and numbers in a workbook |
| Formula View | View where cell formulas are displayed, rather than the values returned by formulas |
| Help | If conncected to the internet, this feature provides additional information about how to perform tasks in excel |
| Legend | Used to identify the format of data used in a chart |
| Office Button | used to open, save, or print a file |
| Operator | A mathematical symbol used to comibe values and return a single value. (comparison or arithemetic) |
| Order of Operations | The defined rules Excel uses to calucate values by determining which operator will be applied first. PEDMAS is and acronym to remember this order, Paretnheses, exponents, divison, multiplication, addition and then subtraction. |
| Range | a group of worksheet cells which can be adjacent or non-adjacent |
| Range Reference | identification of a cell range, using the upper left and lower right corners of the rectangle to select cells. Use a colon with cell addresses to indicate a range |
| Replace | A command to overwrite letters and numbers in a workbook with another entry. |
| Ribbon | The panel on the top portion of a Word document to organize all commands under tabs based on what function they perform |
| Screen tips | A descriptive label that appears when you position the mouse pointer over an icon that indicates what the command will do to your document |
| Sort | Rearrange items A-Z or Z-A order |
| Style | a collection of formatting option that can be aped to cells in a worksheet. A table style will define how the header row, first column, last column and totals row will appear |
| Tabs | Used on the ribbon to organize commandsData tab-to import or export data, Formulas-to control formulas, Home tab for basic formatting, Review tab-proofread or review a spreashsheet. View tab-use to modify the display of a spreadsheet |
| Truncate | To cut off or hide the part of an entry taht does not fit the cell. |
