What is the primary role of the Transport Layer in the OSI model? The Transport Layer is responsible for end-to-end communication, error detection and correction, and ensuring that data is delivered in the correct order between hosts.
What are the two main protocols used at the Transport Layer? TCP and UDP
What are the main functions of TCP at the Transport Layer? reliable data delivery, flow control, error correction, data segmentation and reassembly, and connection establishment and termination.
What are the advantages of using UDP over TCP? Faster due to lower overhead, suitable for applications like streaming where speed is more important than reliability.
What are the disadvantages of using UDP over TCP It is unreliable, does not guarantee packet delivery, and does not manage flow or error correction.
What devices or network components operate at the Transport Layer of the OSI model? Gateways and firewalls
How do Transport Layer protocols support different types of network applications? Web browsing and File transfers
