Wind Damp: Hai Tong Pi (Cortex Erythinae) It's Bitter, Acrid, Neutral--GOES TO ONLY LIVER! What are 3 things Cormac wants you to know? Pi: itching and peeing (ezcema & ("Yang") edema. But perhaps more importantly: "arthritis anywhere in the body"
Wind Damp: Qin Jiao (Radix Gentianae) Remember the "gentle" here. BA(sl)C. LR/GB-ST A Wind-Damp herb that actually NOURISHES YIIN! So can be used in cases of XU Heat (night sweats/hot flashes). Also Damp-Heat Jaundice (b/c of LR-GB?). And MOISTENS the intestine!
Wind Damp: Wei Ling Xian (Radix Clematidis) aka "Awesome Spiritual Immortal" Two unique things. Two odd indications. Clematis root is SALTY (and Acrid/Warm). Goes to ONLY URINARY BLADDER. TRANSFORM Damp: Sha Ren (Fructus Amomi) aka Grains of Paradise Fruit or "Sand Seeds" Like most TRANSFORM DAMP, enters SP/ST and is AWA. But what crazy things does it do? 1. Bitch slaps the Spleen. 2. Regulates qi of MJ. 3. CALMS THE FETUS. 4. Used to cut the cloying effect of tonic formulas. 5. Warm the Spleen; stop diarrhea 6. Morning sickness
Wind Damp: Mu Gua (Fructus Chaenomelis) aka "Wood Melon" What is its unique taste? And its (sort of related) unique indication? SOUR (and Warm). Enters LR and SP!! CF says "spams" and pain in Lower Body. Also "clears Cold-Damp from MJ" and "great for Leg Qi edema"
TRANSFORM Damp: Pei Lan (Herba Eupatorii) aka "Ornamental Orchid" Acrid and Neutral. SP/ST. Harmonizes MJ for n/v. Summer heat. Excessive salivation.
