What is the difference between negative and positive feedback? - A negative feedback opposes a change and creates a response to maintain homeostasis . - A positive feedback reinforces and supports the change and is the opposite of homeostasis.
What are the four major organic substances? Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins, and Nucleic Acids
What are the differences of the DNA & RNA? DNA has double strands, long strands, deoxyribose sugar and has 4 bases. Adenine pairs with Thymine. Guanine pairs with Cytosine. RNA has single stands, short strands, ribose sugar, and 4 bases. Adenine pairs with Uracil. Guanine pairs with Cytosine.
What are the two types of Endoplasmic Reticulum and what are their differences? The Rough ER are flattened sacs covered with ribosomes. The Smooth ER have no ribosomes and distrubutes lipids and hormones.
What are the 8 layers of the skin? The first 5 layers make up the epidermis, the 6-7 layers make up the dermis, and the 8th layer make up the hypodermis.
What are the two main divisions of the skeletal system? The axial skeleton which composed of the skull, the rib cage, and the vertebral column. The appendicular skeleton is composed of the upper extremities and lower extremities.
How are joints classified? Joints are classified according to structure, the function, and its range of movement.
What are parathyroid glands and their function? Glands that produce parathyroid hormone, which plays a key role in the regulation of calcium levels in the blood.
How many amino acids are proteins composed of? Proteins are composed of 21 amino acids. 8/21 are essential amino acids that the body cannot produced and is in the diet, 13/21 are nonessential amino acids.
What is diffusion and osmosis? Diffusion are particles that are spread out evenly in a solution. Osmosis is the movement of water througha semipermeable membrane.
