Types of cell signaling Direct contact. Paracrine (short outside of cell), endocrine (long outside of cell), autocrine (reacts to same cell).
Types of tissue Epithelieal, connective, muscle, nervous.
What makes up the extracellular matrix Water, protien (collagen), glycoproteins, proteoglycans (chondroitin), polysaccharides (hyaluronic acid).
Ectoderm Epidermis, tooth enamel, cornea, outer ear, nasal cavity, facial bones, skeletal muscles, brain and spinal cord, sensory neurons, adrenal medulla.
Mesoderm Dermis of skin, circulatory, glands, kidneys, gonads, muscle, bones, adrenal cortex.
Endoderm GI lining, lining of lungs, hepatic and pancreatic duct lining, kidney and bladder ducts, anterior pituitary gland, thymus gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid, tonsils.
Body Membranes Cutaneous, serous, mucosus, synovial.
Homeostatic control Intracellular, intrinisc control-tissue and organs, extrinsic control- system and organism.
