What is homeostasis? The body's ability to maintain a stable internal enviroment despite external changes
What are the components of homeostasis? Receptors, control center and effectors
Organic molecules? Carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins
How does skin provide protection? Protects against invasion of bacteria, protects delicate cells beneath from injury, inhibits excessive water and electrolytle loss,, produces protective pigmentation.
What are the 2 layers of skin? Epidermis and dermis
How does the cell membrane maintain homeostasis? Balancing the PH, temp, glucose, water balance
What are the PH balances? 0-6 are acidic 7 are neutral 8-14 are basic
What are all cell membranes made of? phosphate, proteins and lipids
How does water move across the cell membrane? Moves from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
What are the different types of bones? Long, short, flat, sesamoid, and irregular
