Week 4 General Computer Apps terms

TermDefinition
Hard Return ending a line of text and moving the cursor to the next line by pressing the enter key
Home Row keys where fingers are initially placed or where fingers return while typing
Keyboard Shortcuts keys or combination of keys which can be used to perform a task which would typically require a mouse or other pointing device
QWERTY Keyboard can be identified by the top row of letters and places all alphabetical keys and numbers in the same location regardless of the computer
Word Wrap cursor automatically moves to the next line without having to press the enter key; referred to as a soft return
Ergonomics the design and arrangement of things people use at work, so that the worker is efficient, productive and safe
File anything that can be saved digitally; the result when you save something digitally
Hardware physical parts of the computer, such as the hard drive, monitor, keyboard
Software programs designed to enable computers to accomplish certain tasks; the three main categories are programming software, system software, and application software
cloud global network of remote servers which operate through the internet and serve as a file storage location for users
