| Aviation Routine Weather Report (METAR) | primary observation code used in the United States (and worldwide) for reporting surface meteorological data. METARs are scheduled reports transmitted at fixed intervals (at least once per hour). |
| In the contiguous United States of America region, the ICAO prefix is | "K" |
| The runway visual range (RVR) | represents the horizontal distance a pilot may see down the runway, or the distance the specified lights or markers delineating it can be seen from a position above a specific point on its center line |
| RVR is reported whenever: | - Visibility is 1SM or less - RVR for the designated instrument runway is 6,000 feet or less |
| Few: | Few clouds @; Layer 1-2 |
| Scattered (SCT): | Layer 3-4 |
| Broken (BKN): | Layer 5-7 |
| Overcast (OVC): | Layer 8 |
| SKC and Clear (CLR): | Sky Clear / Clear below 12,00 |
| Vertical Visibility (VV): | Indefinite ceiling |
