Where and who did Linux start? Linux started as a hobby project by Linus Torvalds, a Finnish-born computer scientist studying at the University of Helsinki. Frustrated by the licensing of MINIX, a UNIX-like operating system designed for educational use.
What are the advantages of using Linux? Free and open source, Highly customizable, Strong security features, Stability and reliability, and Supports a wide range of hardware
What are the disadvantages of using Linux? Steeper learning curve, Limited support for certain proprietary software and hardware drivers, Fragmentation in distributions, and Potential challenges in finding technical support.
What is Open Source movement? Open Source movement: Promotes the free availability of software source code and the right to modify and share it, emphasizing collaborative development and transparency.
What is GNU movement? Initiated by Richard Stallman in 1983, focuses on creating free software tools that complement a UNIX-like operating system. GNU tools, combined with the Linux kernel, form a complete operating system known as GNU/Linux.
