MRI Strong magnetic field used to get a detailed structural view of the brain
DTI Uses the movement of water through the brain to form a structural view of white matter tracks in the brain.
EEG Non-invasive technique where electrodes are positioned around the skull and the electric activity of large populations of neurons is recorded.
PET Scans Radioactive compound is injected into the bloodstream of the patient, The scanner then picks up radio emissions from the labeled molecule to measure function.
Functional MRI (fmri) combines structural mri with measures of blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) contrast. Used to measure functional brain activity
