At junction of lateral 1/4 and medial 3/4 of infraorbital margin. Qiu Hou aka "Behind the Ball"
Musculature: Orbicularis oculi and inferior oblique m. Qui Hou aka "Behind the Ball"
Lateral to corner of mouth, directly below ST-3 ST-4
Anterior to angle of mandible, at anterior border of masseter muscle ST-5
LOWER BORDER OF ZYGOMATIC ARCH, in depression anterior to condyloid process of mandible ST-7
UPPER BORDER OF ZYGOMATIC ARCH, in depression directly above ST-7 GB-3
0.5 cun lateral to out canthus, in depression on lateral side of orbit GB-1
In the nasolabial groove, at midpoint of lateral border of ala nasi. (Other text says "on superior part of nasolabial groove 0.5 INCHES (!) lateral to midpoint of lateral border of ala nasi, 'or 1 INCH superior and lateral to LI-19.'" LI-20
At highest point of nasolabial groove. Bitong (also sometimes called Shang Ying Xiang)
Posterior to ear lobe ("lobule")--remember we were gonna do this in XiWei's class last week I think--in depression between mandible and mastoid process. SJ-17
Lateral to corner of mouth, directly below ST-3 ST-4
Anterior to angle of mandible, on ANTERIOR BORDER of attached portion of masseter muscle, in groove-like depression appearing WHEN CHEEK IS BULGED. ST-5
"Avoid puncturing (facial) artery." ST-5
Needle this point: "SubQ 1.0-1.5 cun, directed toward ST-6" ST-4
Vasculature= Posterior (auricular) A/V and external JUGULAR V SJ-17
In depression about 1 cun posterior to midpoint between lateral end of eyebrow & outer canthus Tai Yang
At LOWER BORDER of zygomatic arch, in depression anterior to condyloid process of mandible. Located with MOUTH CLOSED. ST-7
Front of ear, on UPPER BORDER of zygomatic arch, in depression directly above ST-7 GB-3
Anterior to INTERTRAGIC notch at posterior border of condyloid process of mandible. Located with MOUTH OPEN. GB-2
With MOUTH OPEN, in depression ANTERIOR to SUPRATRAGIC notch and slightly superior to condyloid process of mandible. SJ-21
Anterior and superior to SJ-21, at level with "root" of auricle, on posterior border of hairline of temple (i.e., side burn) where superficial temporal artery passes. SJ-22
Caution: Do not puncture (superficial temporal) artery SJ-22
Anterior to tragus and posterior to condyloid process of mandible, in depression formed when MOUTH IS OPEN. SI-19
3.0 inches lateral to Adam's apple (between sternal head and clavicular head of SCM) LI-18
Posterior to angle of mandible, in depression on anterior border of SCM. SI-17
Caution: Deep insertion can reach anterior part of external carotid artery!!! SI-17
1.3 cun lateral to Du-15, in depression on lateral aspect of m. trapezius. UB-10
