What does DNS stand for? DNS stands for Domain Name Server
What is web hosting? Web hosting is an internet service that hosts websites for clients
What does the IP address do and what does it stand for? IP address stands for Internet Protocol address which is an exact location of a device within a network and it can change.
What does ISP stand for and what does it do? ISP stand for Internet Service Provider and it is when a company provides internet access to a network or device.
What does URL stand for and what does it do? URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator and it locates resources on the web.
How does the DNS work? The URL of a website is sent to the ISP and they look up the URL in their DNS address book. They then find it and send back the Websites IP address.
What is the cloud and what does it do? The cloud is a network of servers hosted on the internet which offer and range of services to store and process data for clients.
What is a client? A client is a user device that connects to a server in order to be served by it.
Why would a company use the cloud? There is no need to buy and install software. Any connected computer can access the server. work is automatically saved, lower costs.
What are the disadvantages of using the cloud? Sensitive company data can be stored in another county which may not adhere to the same data laws as the country the company is in.
What is a WAN? A WAN is a network that covers a wide geographical area and it stands for Wide area network.
