TermDefinition
Cyber Security Relates to the safety of your information and wellbeing while connected to the internet
Cyber security breach An incident where information is stolen or taken from a system without the owner's knowledge.
Power supply Changes household electricity into electricity used by the computer.
Exapansion card Add new things to your computer.
Motherboard Main circuit board that everything is attached to.
Random Access Memory (RAM) A place when information is temporarily stored.
Drive bay A place where a hard drive, floopy drive, or CD-ROM drive sits.
Hard drive Main place where information is stored.
Expansion slot A socket on the motherboard.
Censtral Processing Unit (CPU) Processes instructions and manages flow of information.
CD-ROM Reads information on CD's.
Floppy Drive Stores and reads information on floppy disks.
Ergonomics Enhance comfort and reduce injury (such as eye strain, back or neck pain.)
Ethics The study of what's right and wrong.
Cyber security safety Back-up data, use anti-virus programs, be careful what you post.
Strong password A mixture of numbers, letters, and capitals make it harder for people to hack.
Digital Etiquette How you conduct yourself online. (Your online behaviour)
Hardware Physical components of a computer (things you can touch.)
Software Programs and systems on the computer (things you cannot touch.)
