QuestionAnswer
Summarize the concept of a set point. The theory posits that the human body has a predetermined weight or fat mass set-point. Various physiological mechanisms maintain that set point and resist deviation from it.
What are the four major groups of organic substances? Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids.
Which extracts more energy for cell use, the aerobic or anaerobic pathway? The anaerobic pathway extracts more energy.
How does DNA act as a "master molecule" of a cell? It determines the characteristics of an organism.
What is ECM? What is it made of? A network consisting of extracellular macromolecules and minerals that provide structural and biochemical support to surrounding structures.
Name the two types of connective tissue found in the skeletal system. Bone and cartilage.
What are the two different types of bone tissue? Cortical bone and trabecular bone.
Which bone is the only bone that normally does not form a joint with any other bone of the skeleton? The hyoid bone.
Name the bones that form the hand and wrist. carpal bones.
Which joint is the largest, most complex, and most commonly injured in the body? The knee.
