FTP - File Tranfer Protocol 20 (TCP active)/21 (TCP control) "Forget that period; 2020 - 2021, pandemic; in 2020 COVID was active, in 2021 we got it under control"
SSH - Secure Shell 22 (command line) "Turn the SS into 22 by flipping them"
Telnet 23 (command line) "Michael 'Tell it to the net' Jordan has jersey number 23"
SMTP - Simple Mail Transfer Protocol 25 (SEND mail) "Santa Mail Tranfer Protocol... Santa comes on December 25th!"
DNS - Domain Name System 53 (convert websites -> IPs) "53 is old like DiNosaurS"
DHCP - Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol 67, 68 (assigns IPs) "Don't want your servers 69ing instead of doing their jobs..."
HTTP - Hypertext Transfer Protocol 80 (unsecure browser connection) "HTTP requests so much, port 80 works so hard they look like 80 year old men"
POP3 - Post Office Protocol version 3 110 (RECEIVE mail) "I'm gonna pop 110 caps in your ass" - you only receive mail from one device, not synced over multiple; less advanced than IMAP
NetBIOS 137 (name)/139 (session) (to communicate mail to older Windows devices) "NetBIOS is 1 word, Net is 3 letters, NetBIOS is 7 letters, Net + BIOS = 2 words, 137 + 2 = 139"
IMAP - Internet Mail Access Protocol 143 (RECEIVE mail) "1.4.3 = internet slang for I Love You, receive an email from somebody else that they love you." - more advanced than POP3; emails sync over multiple devices
SNMP - Simple Network Management Protocol 161 (queries)/162 (traps) (161 = manager requesting to agent, 162 = agent sending info to manager) "161, 162 A.D., the years Marcus Aurelius became emperor of Rome, which he manages and created traps for enemies!"
LDAP - Lightweight Directory Access Protocol 389 (queries network directories) "Yo, 3 ate 9?? Dap me up!"
HTTPS - Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure 443 (secure browser connection) "Image 3 locks on your luggage, a 4-letter lock, another 4-letter lock, and a 3-letter lock, just to keep your luggage secure during transfer"
SMB - Server Message Block 445 (Used by Windows, direct SMB communication without NetBIOS) "445, suck my balls"
RDP - Remote Desktop Protocol 3389 (self-explanatory) "longest number to memorize"
TCP Transmission Control Protocol; not real-time, connection-based, errors can be fixed. - used by HTTPS and SSH
UDP User Datagram Protocol; used for real-time connectionless communication, much faster than TCP. - used by DHCP and TFTP
