| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| LCD - Liquid Crystal Display | - uses a backlight - less expensive - blacks don't show as good |
| TN LCD - Twisted Nematic LCD | - the original LCD - most common - fast response time (gaming!) - poor viewing angles |
| IPS LCD - In-Plane Switching LCD | - best color - more expensive |
| VA LCD - Vertical Alignment LCD | - good middle ground - good colors/decent response time (slower than TN though) |
| OLED - Organic Light Emitting Diode | - doesn't use backlight - uses organic compound that receives electric current - think the OLED switch, it looks better/newer! |
| Digitizer | Converts analogue touch of fingers/styluses to digital signals |
| Inverter | Converts DC to AC for CCFL LCD displays (legacy). |
