Acu Anatomy- Week 4

Anatomy of Lower Extremities Points 43-58

QuestionAnswer
LR-5 5 cun above tip of medial malleolus, on medial border of tibia
SP-6 3 cun above tip of medial malleolus, on posterior border of medial aspect of tibia
KD-7 2 cun directly above KD-3, on anterior border of tendo calcaneus (Achilles tendon)
GB-39 3 cun above tip of EXTERNAL malleolus, in depression between posterior border of fibula & tendons of m. peroneus brevis & longus
KD-3 In depression between medial malleolus and tendo calcaneus, at level with tip of medial malleolus
KD-4 Posterior/inferior to medial malleolus, in depression medial to attachment of tendo calcaneus. (Needle passes between Achilles tendon & calcaneus)
SP-5 Depression distal & inferior to medial malleolus, midway between tuberosity of navicular bone & tip of medial malleolus
LR-4 1 cun anterior to medial malleolus, midway between SP-5 and ST-41, in depression on medial side of tendon of m. tibialis anterior.
ST-41 On dorsum of foot, at midpoint of transverse crease of ankle joint, in depression between tendons of extensor digitorum longus & hallucis longus m., approximately at level of tip of EXTERNAL malleolus
KD-6 In depression on lower border of medial malleolus. Or, 1 cun below medial malleolus.
UB-60 In depression between EXTERNAL malleolus & tendocalcaneus.
UB-62 In depression directly below EXTERNAL malleolus
UB-63 Anterior & inferior to UB-62, in depression lateral to cuboid bone
GB-40 Anterior & inferior to EXTERNAL malleolus, in depression lateral to tendon of m. extensor digitorum longus.
ST-42 Distal to ST-41, at HIGHEST POINT OF DORSUM OF FOOT, in depression between 2MT & 3MT & cuneiform bone.
GB-41 In depression distal to junction of 4MT & 5MT bones, on LATERAL side of tendon of m. extensor digiti minimi
SP-4 Depression distal & inferior to base of 1MT bones, JORAWS.
LR-3 Dorsum of foot, depression distal to junction of 1MT & 2MT bones.
SP-3 Proximal & inferior to head of 1MT, JORAWS
SP-6 Contraindicated during pregnancy
UB-60 Contraindicated during pregnancy (except for difficult labor)
ST-42 "Avoid puncturing (peroneal? tibial?) artery"
LR-5 Sub-Q insertion upwards toward knee (0.3-0.5 cun). Fox said both this point and SP-6 you can "slide along the bone"-- but I am pretty sure this doesn't mean needle actually grazes bone.
SP-6 Thread down to GB-39 (although I don't think he does this)
ST-41 "Analogous to SJ-4 as far as dorsal creases of hand/feet go"
LR-4 "Very close to SP-5"-- even on the medial side of tendon (tibialis anterior) (ST-41 is between tendons-- but they are hallucis longus & digitorum longus)
LR-5 On same level as KD-9 but medial border of tibia (5 cun above tip of MM)
GB-40 Lateral side mirror (more or less) to SP-5's medial point
UB-60 Lateral side mirror to KD-3's medial point
Muscles: Flexor digitorum longus & tibialis anterior LR-5
Muscles: Flexor digitorum longus, posterior tibialis, flexor hallucis longus. (With insertion threading down to GB-39, add: soleus, interosseus membrane, extensor hallucis longus, extensor digitorum longus) SP-6
Muscles: Achilles tendon, plantaris tendon, flexor hallucis longus KD-7
Muscles: Extensor digitorum longus, INTEROSSEUS MEMBRANE!! (not immediately obvious) GB-39
Muscles: Achilles tendon, flexor digitorum longus, posterior tibialis, tendon of plantaris, flexor hallucis KD-3
Muscles: Achilles tendon KD-4
