Graves Malware slim

Graves Malware Vocabulary (slim)

TermDefinition
Malware Software written to make your computer do things you don't want it to, like delete or damage data. It is often hidden or disguised.
Virus Software program that replicates itself by infecting other files which then go on to infect others.
Worm Software that replicates itself on networked devices to slow them down or stop them.
Trojan Horse Software meant to look like something a user would want to open, like a game or movie file, so that it can be active to run its code secretly in the background.
Replicate To make copies of itself.
Payload What malware brings to an infected device.
Spyware Software that lets its creator get information from the infected device. Examples of spying might be recorded keystrokes, records of websites, or data from cameras and microphones.
Adware Software that creates pop-up windows on the infected device,
Ransomware Software that blocks access to the user's data, demanding payment to its creator to get it back. It holds data hostage.
Antivirus Software Software that monitors the system for viruses by looking at irregularities in the system, perhaps to delete them.
