Graves Software (slim)

TermDefinition
Software (Digital) parts of the computer. Computer code. They cannot be touched. Digitally coded instructions or data.
File Information stored as an organized series of bits (1s and 0s) so it can be recognized by computer software.
Folder A way of grouping files to organize them.
Operating System Software that allows the parts of a computer or similar device to work together and that lets you operate it.
Application Another name for a computer program. Software that can be run on a computer that has a limited purpose or function.
Suite A group of related applications
Browser An application that shows HTML documents and lets us surf the web
Digital Information in the form of numbers.
Binary A two-digit number system which in a computer is made up of ones (power on) and zeros (power off).
Document Software that is created and opened by applications, like digital typed letters, computer-edited photos, and project files from art programs.
GUI A system for allowing the user to control the computer by using a pointing device with icons and menus.
Proprietary Owned and controlled by a company
Open-source Free for anyone to copy or improve--can't be sold
