What is negative feedback loop? Reverses the change in a controlled condition. Example-elevated BP.
What are prostaglandins? Prostaglandins are lipids composed of 20 carbon unsaturated fatty acid that contain a 5 carbon ring
What is facilitated diffusion? Facilitated diffusion is the transport of substances across the membrane from higher concentration to an area of lower concentration
What is transcription in regards to DNA? Transcription is the process of copying a segment of DNA into RNA.
What is basal lamina? Bsal lamina is a thin, flat network of fibers secreted by the basal membrane of epithelial cells that remain connected to the cells
What is lancunae? Small spaces where osteocytes are located in bone tissue.
What is the stratum basale? Stratum basale is a single layer of colum-nar cells in this deepest stratum of the epithelium that undergo mitosis.
What are osteocytes? Osteocytes are mature, nondividing osteoblasts that have become surrounded by matrix and now lie within lacunae.
What is the hyoid bone? U-shaped bone in the neck between the mandible and upper part of the larynx; distinctive as the only bone in the body not forming a joint with any other bone; suspended by ligaments from the styloid processes of the temporal bones
What is a symphysis? A symphysis is a joint in which a pad or disk of fibrocartilage connects two bones.
