Computer literacy. The knowledge and understanding of basic computer fundamentals.
What are the four primary operations of a computer? Input, Processing, Output, Storage.
Supercomputer. The fastest, most expensive, and most powerful type of computer.
A group of 8 bites. Byte.
What is another way of saying "one million bytes? One megabyte
Which type of memory is erased when the lights go out? RAM.
Biometric reader. A service used to input biometric data.
Central Processing Unit. The chip located inside the system unit of a computer that preforms the processing for a computer.
Volatile. Describes a medium whose content is erased when the power is shut off.
Magnetic disk system. A type of storage system that uses flexible plastic or rigid metal disks onto which data is recorded magnetically.
Remote storage. A storage device that is not directly part of the PC being used, used as network storage or online storage.
What numbering system is used by computers to perform mathematical functions? Binary system.
A tablet PC is an example of what? Portable PC.
What part of the microprocessor that performs integer arithmetic operations? ALU.
ASCII A fixed-length, binary coding system widely used to represent text-based data for computer precessing on many types of computers.
Unicode. An international coding system for text-based data using and written language.
Computer network. A collection of computers and other hardware devices that are connected together to share hardware, software, and data, as well as to communicate electronically with one another.
Supercomputing cluster. A supercomputer compromised of numerous smaller computers connected together to act as a single computer.
Midrange server. A medium-sized computer used to host programs and data for a small network.
Mainframe computer. A computer used in large organizations that need to manage large amounts of centralized data and run multiple programs simultaneously.
