QuestionAnswer
What is Input? The process of entering data into a computer. Can also refer to the data itself.
What is Output? The process of preventing the results of processing. Can refer to the results.
Examples of Input. Keyboarding, Mouse, Scanner, etc.
Examples of Output. Monitor, Printer, Speakers, etc.
What is the Information Processing Cycle? INPUT (User types in 2 and 5) - PROCESSING (Computer adds 2 and 5) - OUTPUT (Computer displays the results) - STORAGE (Computer saves the data for future use).
What does a computer do? Takes data and turns it into information.
What are the six categories of computers? EMBEDDED - MOBILE DEVICES - PERSONAL - MIDRANGE SERVERS - MAINFRAME - SUPERCOMPUTERS
What is a Midrange Server? Hosts data and programs available to a small group.
What is a Mainframe? Powerful computers used to host a large amount of data for a large group of users.
What is a Super Computer? Extremely powerful computers used for complex computations and processing.
What is the differences between Web Page, Web Site, Web Server, and Web Browser. WEB PAGE - single document (your profile), WEB SITE - Major site that's a collection of pages, WEB SERVER - Computer that hosts web pages, WEB BROWSER - Software (Internet Explorer).
How many bits in a byte. There are 8 bits in a byte.
What's the order of Digital Data? Bit - Byte - KB - MB - GB - TB - PB.
Explain the Binary System. Made up of two numebers (0 and 1) that represent everything that's put into a computer.
What is ASCII and what does it stand for? American Standard Code for Information Interchange. It's the main binary system used.
Software programs that are distributed on the honor system and can be legally and ethically shared with others to try out the software are: Shareware Programs
True/False: Software purchased via the internet is always downloaded, not packaged? False
What is used for an expansion card that provides networking capabilities? Network Interface Card (NIC)
What is the storage media that holds the most data? Internal Hard Drive.
What is Commercial Software? Software that is bought and installed on your own computer.
