Project Individuals are involved in common short term taks that require some interaction, cooperation or competition. The task is still the focus. Therapist assists group with task selection and responds to the ocial emotional needs of members 5 years olds building a fort togetherAdults engaged in a "pass the ball" game to learn each other's names for 15 minutes
Egocentric-cooperative Group member select, implement and execute releatively long term tasks through joint interaction. The task remains central. Members are encouraged to meet social-emotional needs of peers Adults preparing,serving and then eating lunch together
Cooperative Member identify and address peers' social-emotional needs in conjunction with task accompilshment. Therapist acts as an advisor 16 year olds discussing feelings about musical lyrics while working on a parade floatElders discussing feelings about peer's illness while writting get well cards
Mature Member take on required task and social-emotional roles as required for group functioning. The therapist interacts as a coequal group member. Parents of children with LD coach each other on discipline in a parent support group.
Parallel An aggregate of individuals involved individual taks with minimal interaction. Therapist is respsonsible for social-emotional needs of group (rather than peers). 3 year olds playing seperately in a sandboxAdults in a craft group each working on a different project
