| Action Potential | Rapid change in membrane potential of excitable cells, such as neurons and muscle cells |
| Renal Filtration | Process by which the kidneys filter waste products and excess substances from the blood |
| Sliding Filament Theory | Actin and myosin filaments slide past each other, leading to muscle contraction |
| Excitation-Contraction Coupling | Process of converting an electrical stimulus (action potential) into a mechanical response (muscle contraction) |
