How could you become free as a slave? your master could free you, you could buy your freedom, you could perform 6 years of national service (eg fire brigade, ship-building, run a bakery)
How could you accelerate your emancipation? If you had a child with a free woman, as a slave man, and it lived past 1 year old
What were freed slaves called (Latin)? LIBERATI
What were freedmen's offspring, legally? full citizens
