Animated clip art A moving clip art graphic.
Anti-virus An application designed to search for viruses and repair files on a computer.
Branching Adding hyperlinked text within a multimedia presentation to navigating through a presentation.
Design The look of a presentation or document.
Filter To narrow down the information within a database by searching for a specific items.
Firewall Technology that prevents users from visiting inappropriate web sites, and protects the network from unauthorized users.
Hacker An unauthorized person who secretly gains access to computer files.
LAN (Local Area Network) Capable of transmitting data at very fast rates, much faster than data can be transmitted over a telephone line.
Median The “middle number” of a set of numbers; a function in a spreadsheet.
Menu A horizontal menu that appears on top of a window. Usually each option in a menu bar is associated with a pull-down menu.
Mode Number repeated more often than any other.
Music An MP3, MIDI or audio file.
Network A system of connected computers that allows the sharing of files and equipment. There are two types of networks: local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
Presentation Multimedia software that creates highly stylized images for slide shows& reports.
Range The difference between the largest and smallest value. In spreadsheets, a set of connected cells.
Virus A computer program designed to damage computer files.
Wireless Computer network where there are no physical wired connections between sender and receiver.
Worm A computer file designed to do damage that goes through a computer and possibly a network.
