| Dysphemism | Aiming to make matters as jarringly ugly as possible |
| Bildungsroman | A german term meaning coming of age |
| Anaphora | Repeating a word at the start of clauses "Twas a passing strange, Twas pitiful, Twas wondorus pitiful" |
| In Medias Res | Starting a scene "in the middle of the thing" |

| Hypallage | Literary term for placing an adjective or modifier with a noun where it technically does not belong |
| Analogy | A literary comparison using the syntax of A:B is as C:D |
| Adynaton | Nothing the indescribability of a moment, particularly one that's grand |
| Anadiplosis | Beginning a line/phrase with a repeat of the prior line's ending |
| Anaphora | Parallel phrasing repeated at the start of clauses. |
| Antanaclasis | A type of Ploce where the repeated word is used with different meanings or senses |
| Anthimeria | Twisting a word into an unusual part of speech |
| Asteismus | Responding to an unintended meaning of what was said, thus turning the first line into a pun |
| Dialysis | Mirrored clauses with two opposing positions where one is negated/rejected by the other |
| Epiphora | Parallel phrasing repeated at end of clauses |
