| Term | Definition |

| Leading Lines | A compositional technique where human-made or natural lines lead the viewer's eyes through a photograph to the subject or the heart of the image |
| Framing | Using or adding frame elements to emphasize and lead the viewer's eye towards your subject. |
| Landscape / Horizontal | A picture that is wider than it is tall |
| Portrait / Vertical | A picture that is taller than it is wide. |
| Silhouette | The lighting comes from behind the subject in your picture and the subject appears dark. |
| Birds Eye View | An image taken from above the subjects straight down. |
| Worms Eye View | An image taken from below the subject straight up. |
| Motion Blur | Blur from a moving object. |
| Camera Shake | Blur from photograph taken below 1/60 and shows camera movement. |
| Formal Balance | Both Sides of the picture are similar (symmetrical) |
