Term | Definition |

Lever | A rigid bar that is free to move around a fixed point |
Fulcrum | The fixed point around which a lever pivots |
Resistance Arm (RA) | distance between load (weight) and axis |
Force Arm (FA) | distance between force and axis |
First Class Lever | The fulcrum is positioned between the force and load (Head and Foot are examples |
Second Class Lever | the load is between the fulcrum and the force (wheelbarrow is example) |
Third Class Lever | Effort (Force) is between fulcrum and load (examples are arms and legs) |
First Class Lever and Grip | power grip is open, stable, and strong but is slow and lacks flexibility |
Second Class Lever and Grip | grip is open, stable, and strong but is slow and lacks flexibility |
