Where do you keep your eyes when dribbling a basketball? | You keep them up. |
How high do you dribble the basketball? | You dribble below your waist. |
What is a double dribble? | When a player ends their dribble by catching the ball in one or both hands and then dribbles it again with one hand or when a player touches it twice before the ball hits the ground. |
What is a carry? | When the dribbling player continues to dribble after allowing the ball to come to rest in one or both hands. |
What is a travel? | When a player holding the ball moves one or both of their feet illegally. |
How do you do a chest pass? | It is thrown by gripping the ball on the sides with the thumbs directly behind the ball, stepping towards the other player, and passing the ball towards their chest. |
How do you do a bounce pass? | It is made by bouncing the ball once, for best results aim to have it bounce 75% of the way across to the other player. |
What is a layup? | A two point shot near the basket, from a 45 degree angle, and usually off the backboard; also considered the most basic shot in basketball. |
What is the first letter of beef? | Balance yourself and bend your knees |
What is the second letter of beef? | Eyes on the basket |
What is the third letter of beef? | Elbow up forming the “L” shape (shoot with one hand, using the other only as a guide) |

What is the free throw line? | The rectangle on each team’s side of the court and used to line up players during a free throw, each free throw is worth 1 point. |
What is the three point line? | A semicircle that surrounds the basket area on each team's side of the court; players who stand behind the line and make a basket are given three points instead of the standard two points for a regular shot. |
What are the side and baselines? | These lines mark the outside boundaries for out-of-bounds purposes; contacting the line with the ball or a players body part mean the ball is out of bounds, and turned over to the other team. |
What is the center jump circle? | Where the game action starts and has a radius of 6 feet; all players other than the two jumpers must stand outside the circle until the ball is tipped. |
What is a basket? | There is one on each end of the floor -- it is made up of a backboard and a ring that holds a net; the hoop is 10 feet from the floor. |
What is a personal foul? | A breach of the rules that concerns illegal personal contact with an opponent, once a player receives a certain number of personal fouls they are kicked out of that game. |
