Elements of Art
| Term | Definition |

| texture | The characteristics of surface quality, either tactile or visual. The relative roughness or smoothness of an object. |
| shape | A two-dimensional area possessing only length and width that is contained within a line or identified by its color, value, or texture. Can be positive, negative, geometric, or organic. |
| color | The appearance of reflected light. The visual characteristics of a hue, its value, and its intensity |
| space | The appearance of depth in a two-dimensional works of art. The actual or visual area above, below, around, or between objects. |
| form | A three-dimensional object possessing length, width, and height. In a two-dimensional work of art, value is often used to simulate form. |
| line | A continuous mark possessing length and direction made with an art medium. |
| value | The relative lightness or darkness of a color. The difference between values is referred to as contrast. |
| geometric | with straight or even edges |
| organic | with curved or uneven edges |
