computer an electronic device that received, processes, and stores data and produces a result
desktop a computer display area that represnts the top of your desk
keyboard raised keys that allow a person to enter information or data
mouse a hand held device that is used to move or select items on your screen
monitor a piece of hardware that displays text and graphics from a computer
cursor a flashing symbol on the monitorthat shows where the information you enter will appear
font the styles of type available on the computer
menu a list of commands for you to choose from
hard drive the hard disc drive that stores your data in your computer
compact disc CD stores data as small notches on the disc and is read by a laser from the optical drive
flash drive a small portable memory card that plugs into the computer's USB port.
Save allows you to save your new information on top of the information already in a file. You should do this often while you work.
Save as Allows you to name a file and save it where you specifically want to
Format Doing this to an image will allow you to easily move it around your document.
Toolbar A bar at the top of your document that allows you to see some of your editing tools and choices.
Printer a piece of hardware used to produce a paper (hard copy) of the processing results.
