Cyber Security

Vocabulary related to Cyber Security

Cyber Related to computers and technology
Cyber security Protecting your computer and data
Hacker A person who uses computers to gain access to other people's data without their permission
Password A code that you can use to protect your accounts. Don't share this with other people!
Phishing An attempt by a hacker to get you to type your password into a website something that can steal it
Secure A website is secure if it protects your password and personal data
DDOS Distributed Denied of Service: an attack on a site or server that causes it to crash
Database A server where digital information is stored
Malware Software that is specifically designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to a computer system
Virus A piece of code that is capable of stealing data or damaging your computer/phone
Ransomware A type of malware that takes your computer hostage and forces you to pay money to gain access
Strong Passwords Passwords that are long and have different types of characters (numbers, lowercase letters, uppercase letters, etc.)
