FCAT-Locating and Interpreting Information

Almanacs Think "statistics". Includes calendars, weather forecasts , information about the moon, stars, ocean tides and statistcs.
Atlases Think "maps". Books of maps that also have information about the geography of the earth.
Road atlases Think "travel". Will show you which Interstate highways or roads to take when you travel inside a state or from state to state.
Historical atlases Think " old maps". Contain very old maps that show the names and location of countries hundreds of years ago.
Encyclopedias Has passages about every subject arranged in alphabetical order( by subject).
Reader's Guides to Periodical Literature Books that list magazine articles from 100 magazines. you can look up a subject and read the titles of magazine articles about your subject.
Telephone Book - Yellow Pages Think "Goods and Services". List, goods and services you can buy in your city. Arranged alphabetically by subject such as Automobiles, Churches, and Dentists.
Dictionaries Gives the number of syllables in a word, its pronunciation, its part of speech, and its word origins. Sometimes it gives synonyms.
Thesaurus Think "synonym/antonym". Lists words in alphabetical order and gives their synonyms (words with same meaning) and antonyms (words with opposite meaning).
