Climax | The most exciting part in a story. |
Point of View | the “eye” or narrative voice through which you tell a story. |
Conflict | conflict is a literary element that involves a struggle between two opposing force. |
Allusion | indirect reference to something outside the text, usually a person, place, thing, or idea that is generally familiar to the intended audience. |
Hyperbole | An extreme exaggeration used to make a point, often humorously. |
Metaphor | A figure of speech that features a comparison between two disparate things that are not literally the same. Unlike similes, metaphors do not use the words “like” or “as. |
Simile | A figure of speech in which two objects are directly compared, usually including either “like” or “as” in the comparison. |
First person point of view | The person telling the story about self. Pronouns used, include I and me. |
second person point of view | In second-person, the narrator addresses the reader as “you,” effectively drawing the reader into the action of the story. |
Third person point of view | In third-person, the narrator observes and reports on the actions of the characters, but is not herself a character |
Third person POV Limited | Narrator in a story observes and has insight to the thoughts and feelings of one character in a story. |
Third person POV Omniscient | Narrator in the story that observes and has insight and is all knowing to the thoughts and feelings of all character in a story. |
